The Yachats Area includes a variety of sites and attractions that visitors may enjoy. Yachats is a popular resort, and the beach is well known in the area. This is one of the few places in the world where sea-run smelt, which is a sardine-like fish, come to the shore. The mating season of the smelt (between April and October) bring these fish to coves of Yachats.

The Yachats State Recreation Area, with plenty of opportunities to relax, picnic, or fish is in the area. The Yachats Ocean Road Natural Site, and Smelt Sands State Recreation site are also located in the area.
