Hells Canyon Scenic Byway
Wallowa Mountains, OR
At nearly 10,000 feet in elevation, the Wallowas are visible from 85% of the byway route. The Powder, Grande Ronde, Pine and Wallowa Valleys are at the mountains' feet and are a mile below the highest points. The jagged peaks retain pockets of snow through summer. These mountains house the Eagle Cap Wilderness, Oregon's largest designated wilderness area.
