Plan ahead when traveling. Services are not available at every part of the route. However, they can be found at various places such as communities, visitor information centers, or resorts along this byway. Some resorts and campgrounds require reservations during the summer season. Some restaurants and lodging facilities are closed during winter months.

There are many trails available, varying in levels of difficulty. Along the byway is the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail, the 50-mile Upper Rogue River Trail, and nature and waterfall trails.
