  • Cutsforth Park (OR)

    Cutsforth Park 16 miles southeast of Heppner on the Willow Creek Road, was donated to Morrow County by Orville and Barbara Cutsforth.

  • Hardman (OR)

    This ghost town is a short 40-mile round-trip off the byway. It was once a favorite stopover for freighters and stage drivers in the late 1800s.

    From Heppner, take SR-206/207 southwest about 20 miles.

  • Heppner (OR)

    Heppner, the county seat for Morrow County, is knows for Irish heritage and its notable 1902 vintage courthouse.

    Location:

    Located at the junction of SR-74 and SR-207.

  • Ione (OR)

    Ione is a lovely community of gracious homes and several business facilities, nestled along Willow Creek.

    On SR-74.

  • Lexington (OR)

    In the early 1900s, this busy community was the trading center for products entering and leaving the county.

    Location:

    On SR-74, near the northern end of the byway.

  • North Fork John Day Campground and Trailhead (OR)

    The North Fork John Day Campground provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for a small overnight fee.

    Location:

    Located at the beginning of the byway on Country Road 53.

  • Oregon National Historic Trail (OR)

    The Oregon Trail followed along much of the same route as the Historic Columbia River Highway. Today the trail corridor contains some 300 miles of discernible ruts and 125 historic sites.

    The Oregon National Historic Trail runs through several states and runs along the Historic Columbia River Highway.

  • Ukiah (OR)

    Geologists tell us the Ukiah area was once covered by a large lake.

    Located on County Road 53.

  • Umatilla National Forest (OR)

    Various activities are offered in the Umatilla National Forest, such as bird-watching, camping, hiking, and fishing.

    Southeastern WA and northeastern OR.

  • Wallowa-Whitman National Forest

    Wallowa-Whitman National Forest (OR)

    As the largest forest in the Pacific Northwest, the Wallowa Whitman invites visitors to wallow in an abundance of recreational opportunities.

    Northeastern Oregon.
