For a more civilized outdoors experience, visit Hickory Knob State Resort Park, the only resort in the South Carolina's state park system. Here, you can try your hand at archery, take to the courts for tennis, or get out the clubs for a round of golf. Hickory Knob includes a beautiful 18-hole championship golf course, which lies along the shores of Thurmond Lake. Those inclined towards fishing will find easy access to the lake.
