Death Valley Scenic Byway
The Borax Museum, CA

Just south of the visitor center is the Borax Museum, a fascinating museum that plays homage to the cultures, geology and art which played an integral part of Death Valley's history and economics. The building itself was built in 1883 by Francis Marion "Borax" Smith as an office in Monte Blanco but was moved to Furnace creek in the 1950s.

Learn the story of native tribes that inhabited the Death Valley area, as told through artifacts like baskets, tools, and other objects. Learn about the nature wonder of the area, including it's geology through interpretive displays and collections of rock and minerals.
