W. W. Mayo House, MN

Before founding the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Dr. William W. Mayo set up his first medical practice in Minnesota from this nationally registered, gothic-style home he built in 1859. In 1874 the Cosgrove family -- founders of the Minnesota Valley Canning Company, which eventually became the Green Giant Company -- moved into the home.

Costumed, interpretive tours of the home and its original furnishings are available. Tour guides tell the stories of both of these prominent Minnesota families. The Mayo House Interpretive Society administers this Minnesota Historical Society site.
