Chinook Scenic Byway
Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities
This byway is popular for bicycling. In addition to bicycling the road, the number of mountain-bike routes has increased yearly. Also, beginning in 1984, there has been an annual "Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day" (RAMROD) bicycle event. Every year, many more bicyclists apply to participate in the event, which is limited to 750 people.
Highway Specifics:
- From milepost (MP) 25.5 (Enumclaw) to MP 47.7, where the byway enters the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, the road has 6- to 8-foot shoulders. The posted speed limit is 55 mph.
- From MP 47.7 to MP 57.6 (the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park), the shoulders are 4 feet, and posted speed limits are 50 mph.
- The 111.6 miles of road in the National Park is currently undergoing reconstruction with new 2-foot shoulders. Speed limits range from 25 to 45 mph.
- Traveling east from the pass, the road travels through Wenatchee National Forest to MP 100.47, where it passes through private land.
- From Chinook Pass to Naches, the road width is 32 feet (12-foot lanes, 4-foot shoulders), with a posted speed of 55 mph.
- At MP 185.4, there is a junction with SR 12; here SR 410 ends. The byway follows SR 12 for 3.4 miles and terminates at Naches, MP 110.3.
