  • Lake Diablo

    Lake Diablo (WA)

    The distinctive color of the lake (jade) is caused by finely-ground rock-dust suspended in the water which reflects the green of the forest. The lake's overlook is stunning.

  • Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

    Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (WA)

    The forest's picturesque settings range from glacier-cut valleys to the rugged, ice-capped mountains of the North Cascades.

    Location:

    North-western Washington, between the Canadian border and Mt. Rainier National Park

  • North Cascades National Park Visitor Center (WA)

    Exhibits, maps, and information about the park. Also: permits for backcountry travel and camping.

  • Okanagon National Forest (WA)

    This forest has a variety of country from craggy peaks to rolling meadows, to rich old growth forest, and classic groves of ponderosa pine. Two wilderness areas provide thousands of pristine acres for recreation.

    Visit the training and departure base for the fire fighter smoke jumpers.

  • Wenatchee National Forest (WA)

    The Wenatchee National Forest is well known for its recreational opportunities, with a little something for everyone.

    Location:

    The Wenatchee National Forest is on Highway 2 north of Cle Elum.

  • Winthrop (WA)

    The town looks like the set of a Western movie: false-front wooden buildings, hitching rails, cattle drives, and board sidewalks. This town is almost completely surrounded by National Forest; Winthrop beckons outdoor recreationists of all kinds.
