Day 1

Start: Spencer Island Wetlands
Teeming with wildlife, these 1900 acres of urban wetlands can be explored by boat, sea kayak, canoe, or hiking trail.

Stop 1: Everett
From previous stop: 6 minutes / 2.67 mi (4.3 km) Directions: Turn onto US-2 W.
Suggested time at this stop: 1 hour Situated along the water, you can spend hours exploring this busy town.

Stop 2: Snohomish
From previous stop: 12 minutes / 8.71 mi (13.9 km) Directions: Continue on US-2 E towards Snohomish.
Suggested time at this stop: 1 hour Visit the "Antique Capital of the Northwest." which was founded in 1859 by E.C. Ferguson. There are many places to explore in the town, including the Blackman Historical Museum.

Stop 3: Serpentarium
From previous stop: 12 minutes / 7.95 mi (12.7 km) Directions: Stay on US-2 E and continue along the Byway.
Suggested time at this stop: 45 minutes One of the most comprehensive collections of reptiles on the West coast, you'll see reptiles seldom found in other zoos, from Black Mambas to large anacondas. You can also see the world's largest spiders and centipedes.

Stop 4: Wallace Falls State Park
From previous stop: 19 minutes / 13.5 mi (21.6 km) Directions: Take U.S. Hwy. 2 east from Monroe to Gold Bar. Once in Gold Bar, follow the signs two miles northeast to the park.
Suggested time at this stop: 1 hour Hike or bike to the top of these 250-foot high falls for panoramic views of the Skykomish Valley. You can also picnic, fish, and camp in this park.

Stop 5: Deception Falls
From previous stop: 50 minutes / 44 mi (70.4 km) Directions: Driving east along US 2 from Monroe, proceed approximately 10 miles past Skykomish to the signed Deception Falls picnic area.
Suggested time at this stop: 20 minutes Hard to spot from the road, this is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy some of the natural beauty that Washington offers.

Stop 6: Iron Goat Trail
From previous stop: 10 minutes / 8 mi (12.8 km) Directions: Take US-2 E, 6 miles east of Skykomish, then turn north on Forest Road 67. Proceed to the junction with USFS Road #6710, then turn onto USFS Road #6710 and proceed 1.4 miles to the Martin Creek trailhead parking lot.
Suggested time at this stop: 1 hour The trail follows the abandoned Great Northern Railway grade through remnants of tunnels, trestles, and labor camps. Over six miles of trail running through cool forests of ferns and alders.

Stop 7: Leavenworth
From previous stop: 56 minutes / 50 mi (80.0 km) Directions: Drive 1.4 miles down USFS Road #6710 and proceed to the junction of Forest Road 67. Turn onto US-2 and drive for 44.8 miles, then turn right onto Front St to end at Leavenworth.
Suggested time at this stop: 2 hours Experience an authentic Bavarian atmosphere. The community used the backdrop of the surrounding Alpine hills to their advantage and completely renovated the downtown, along with instituting a series of festivals.

Stop 8: Aplets and Cotlets Candy Kitchen Tour
From previous stop: 16 minutes / 11.5 mi (18.4 km) Directions: Drive northeast on Front St. toward 10th St and turn left to stay on Front St before turning right onto US-2 E. Continue for 10.7 miles, then turn right onto Aplets Way, then left onto Mission Ave to end at Aplets & Cotlets.
Suggested time at this stop: 45 minutes The charming, old world kitchen offers delightful samples of delicious fruit and nut confection. This nationally-known company has made these confections out of locally-grown produce for over 75 years.

Stop 9: Chelan County Museum and Pioneer Village
From previous stop: 3 minutes / 1.29 mi (2.1 km) Directions: Drive west on Mission Ave, turn right onto Aplets Way before taking another right onto US-2 E. After .8 miles, turn right onto Cotlets Way to end at the Chelan County Museum.
Suggested time at this stop: 45 minutes Native American artifacts, natural history exhibits, and 20 authentically-restored pioneer buildings.

Stop 10: Ohme Gardens
From previous stop: 15 minutes / 9.6 mi (15.4 km) Directions: Drive east on Cotlets Way and turn left, then right to turn onto US-2 E. After 6.9 miles, merge onto US-97 N. Turn left onto East St, take a right onto Ohme Garden Rd, then a left onto Ohme Rd to end at Ohme Gardens.
Suggested time at this stop: 20 minutes High on a rock bluff, its sweeping vistas are of the Wenatchee Valley, Columbia River, and Cascade Mountains.

Stop 11: North Central Washington Museum
From previous stop: 14 minutes / 6.15 mi (9.8 km) Directions: Drive south on Ohme Rd for 1.8 miles, take a right onto Ohme Garden Rd then a left onto Easy St. Turn right onto US-2 W and then merge onto WA-285. After 2.2 miles, turn right onto N. Miller St, then take a left onto N. Chelan Ave. Turn left onto Yakima St after 1.2 miles, then take another left onto S. Mission St. to end at the North Central Washington Museum.
Suggested time at this stop: 30 minutes The museum itself is a historic landmark. It includes exhibits and displays.

End: Wenatchee
From previous stop: 1 minute / 0.17 mi (0.3 km) Directions: Drive northwest on S. Mission St, turn right onto Orondo Ave then right again onto S. Columbia St. to end at downtown Wenatchee.
Art on the Avenues is one of the best places to visit while in downtown Wenatchee.
