North Pend Oreille Scenic Byway

In the summer, scores of birds hang about lakes, streams, marshes, and wetlands. In the winter, waterfowl settle on the slow moving Pend Oreille, and winter birds take refuge in the surrounding elevations. The forests embrace considerable stands of quaking aspen, cottonwoods, and lush open meadows.
