Bonneville Dam/Hamilton Island, WA
Visitors can see salmon move up the fish ladder from outside and inside viewing windows at Bonneville Dam. Bonneville Dam spans the Columbia River, joining Washington and Oregon. It was created for fish and wildlife protection, hydropower production, recreation, and navigation. Visitors can learn a lot at one of the largest public viewing facilities.
Hamilton Island, called Strawberry Island in the journals of Lewis and Clark, was the campsite of Lewis and Clark from April 10 11, 1806. Travelers can see exhibits of "Lewis and Clark on the River" at the visitor center.
