Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway - Washington
Doug's Beach State Park, WA

This park is one of the premier windsurfing sites in the Columbia River Gorge. In fact, the park was named after a windsurfer who used to frequent the area when it was still in its infancy. Doug's Beach State Park is a 400-acre, undeveloped day-use park. The park is situated beneath some basalt cliffs carved by floodwaters of the last ice age. Visitors can identify the various flows of lava that formed the basalt by the distinct stratigraphy along the cliff walls. Artifacts associated with Native American villages are also present. Visitors can access the beach down a paved path.
