There are several museums located on the byway in Cassoday, Cottonwood Falls, Strong City, and Council Grove.

This byway is considered never busy and anytime is a good time to drive it. In the spring and summer there is an abundance of wildflowers.
- High Season
This byway has a lot of traffic in May during the wheat harvest.
- Off Season
January considered the Off Season for the Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway due to the winter driving conditions.
