Great River Road
Hager City, WI
In 1903, an archaeologist named Jacob Brower mapped an unusual arrangement of boulders on the bluffs just east of Hager City. To him, the boulders seemed to take the shape of a bow and arrow. Since then, others have had their own guesses of the shape the boulders were really meant to portray. Some see a large bird or another kind of animal. The origin of the boulders is unknown.
Today, this small community still has the same railroad going by as it did when it was founded in 1886 by the Chicago, Burlington & Northern Railroad. The town has retained its small, quiet atmosphere.
