The Village of Maiden Rock takes its name from the towering limestone bluff to the south where legend claims that young Indian woman jumped to her death here to avoid marriage. Maiden Rock was never a major steamboat landing. The little town displays a historic main street and offers a lakeside campground and picnic area.
