Great River Road
Fountain City, WI

Now a historical town, this byway community was also once a steamboat landing. German immigrants were the primary settlers and remained predominantly German into the early 1900's. The city got its name from the natural springs in the area. They provided the pure water that was used by the town's breweries. Tour the town's historical sites which exhibit many different building styles. As you drive the Great River Road, you will find Fountain City at the base of the 550 foot Eagle Bluff and Indian Head rock.
