Great River Road
Onalaska, WI
As one of the fastest growing cities in Wisconsin, Onalaska is also one of the friendliest. With lots of recreational activities and outdoor fun, visitors stop here on their way along the Great River Road to have a good time. Onalaska also began as a lumber town during the 1800's. Founded by a man named Thomas Rowe from New York, the name Onalaska came from a poem called "The Pleasures of Hope" by Thomas Campbell. Although lumber mills no longer exist in Onalaska, the city is still a thriving community.
