Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, LA

Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge was established in October 1994, and is comprised of 18,000 acres of pine flatwoods, oak ridges, and fresh, brackish, and saltwater marsh. It is a diverse habitat for many wildlife species, including Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, Brown Pelicans, American alligators, Bald Eagles, rabbits, turkeys, neo-tropical birds, deer, squirrels, migratory waterfowl, Ospreys and other raptors, and wading birds.
