Blue Ridge Parkway
Mabry Mill, VA
Mabry Mill is a century-old gristmill built in 1910 to grind corn for neighboring farms. A paved path leads to the mill and adjoining exhibits that highlight sorghum making, moonshining, and other colorful aspects of rural life in the Blue Ridge of the early 20th century. Living history demonstrations are offered in the summer and early fall, including demonstrators making apple butter in fire-heated kettles on fall weekends.
