This home was built in 1833 for Harriet Beecher Stowe's father, Lyman Beecher, who was the president of Lane Seminary. Harriet Beecher Stowe grew up in this home, and it was here that she learned of the injustice of slavery and wrote her famous novel, Uncle Tom's Cabin.
