One of the largest towns on the Ohio River in south-central Ohio, Portsmouth is a traveler's delight. Many come to marvel at the 50 huge murals painted on the flood-wall alongside the Ohio River, but this riverside city has many other attractions. The quaint Boneyfiddle Historic District is the oldest neighborhood in the city, with splendid historic homes dating back to 1835. The life and career of hometown legend Roy Rogers is celebrated in a memorabilia exhibit hosted in the basement of the Portsmouth post office. And there are hiking, camping, boating, and fishing opportunities in city and nearby state parks.
