Best Time to Drive

June 1st through October 15th is the ideal time to experience the byway. The best time to view wildlife in Tule Lake National Wildlife Preserve is during snowy, winter months.

Some of the byway may be closed between November and May. Call the ranger station for more information.

Parts of the byway are closed due to snow, but wildlife viewing is best during the winter. Consult with local ranger stations for weather and closure information.
