Special Considerations

Please Remember

To keep these sites the special places they were intended to be:

  • No beach access
  • Pets are not allowed
  • Fires are allowed ONLY in the fire pits provided; make sure your fire is completely out when you leave.
  • Don't gather wood in the park; bring your own, or buy it at the grocery store at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park when you register.
  • You must have a California license to fish in the ocean.
  • Lock your car and keep your valuables with you.
  • Stay away from the steep cliffs; they may give way underfoot. The Saddle Rock area and the bluffs around the cove are closed to public entry.
  • Carry out your trash and leave your campsite (including the toilet, which contains cleaning supplies) looking as if no one had ever stayed there.

Seasons/Climate/Recommended Clothing:

Come prepared -- the area is often windy, and night and morning fog banks can be chilly even in mid-summer.

Camping Information:

Each site has a storage cabinet and a fire pit. Primitive toilets are nearby. You must carry in your own water from the restrooms near the parking lot on the east side of the highway.

Length of Stay: Maximum of seven consecutive days per stay; no more than 30 days per year. Occupancy is limited to 8 people per site.
