Palms to Pines Scenic Byway
Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities
Temperature and climate extremes vary according to elevation. To cope with the desert's extreme heat in the summer, drink plenty of water and wear hats and sun protection.
In winter or even in summer the high elevation brings extreme cold and moisture that requires rain gear, insulation and limited movement for long periods of time. Bring warm clothing, shelter, water and food for extended periods. Also, carry a map and compass, and check conditions before hiking long distances.
