Driving the Byway:

From Cedarville:

• Go east on State Highway 299 about 20 miles.
• Head north (left) on State Route 34 and go up Long Valley for another 20 miles.
• Turn west (left) on a road that crosses Mosquito Lake and goes to Fort Bidwell.
• At Fort Bidwell, turn south (left) and return to Cedarville.

From Nevada:

• Enter the loop from Highway 447, which runs north from Interstate 80 at Wadsworth a few miles east of Reno, and passes through Gerlach, gateway to the Black Rock Desert.

The total distance from Gerlach to Cedarville is about 84 miles.
