Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, KY
The Battle of Perryville was the largest battle ever fought on Kentucky soil. On October 8, 1862, more than 72,000 Union and Confederate troops clashed in the battle that decided the fate of Kentucky in the Civil War. The battlefield is one of the most unaltered Civil War sites in the nation and has a museum and self-guided interpretive trails totaling over seven miles in length. A Confederate monument was erected in 1902 and a Union monument was built in 1931.
