Creole Nature Trail
Lake Charles, LA

Lake Charles is the fastest growing city in Louisiana and the hub to five other unique communities in Calcasieu Parish: DeQuincy, Iowa, Sulphur, Vinton, and Westlake. Lake Charles offers all the conveniences of a city without the clutter and confusion of a vast urban metropolis.

In addition to museums, fine cuisine, gaming, historical sites, and luxurious accommodations, Lake Charles overlooks a freshwater lake with the only white-sand, inland beach along the Gulf Coast. Local legends say pirate Jean Lafitte made Lake Charles his hideaway and left behind hidden treasure on the shores of the lake. A boardwalk, a community-built playground, the Veterans Memorial Park, and an interactive fountain today flank that same lake.

Located on the city's boardwalk, the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau provides information on the various attractions in the area and serves as the marketing agency for the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road.
