This memorial will stand as a tribute to Native Americans. A work in progress, this mountain-sized monument celebrates the life of Crazy Horse, one of the greatest Native American leaders.
Distance from byway: 3.5 mi / 5.6 km Travel time: 10 minutes Directions: From the junction of US ALT 16 and SR-89, follow US ALT 16 into Custer. Turn right on 5th Avenue, or Highway 385, and continue to the junction of Avenue of Chiefs. Turn right onto Avenue of Chiefs and continue to the memorial.

The presidential faces of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln, scaled to men who would stand 465 feet tall, gaze out over the Black Hills from Mount Rushmore. Almost three million visitors each year make the pilgrimage to view the memorial.
