Delaware River Scenic Byway
Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities

The accommodation for bicycles and pedestrians adjacent to the byway is exceptional. The towpath for the historic Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park parallels the byway and provides a unique experience for exploring the byway on foot or bicycle. Twenty-five miles of this flat multi-use trail runs parallel to Route 29 from Frenchtown to Scudder Falls in Trenton. The D&R Canal also supports travel by canoe and kayak. The Delaware River, which also parallels the byway, is navigable by boat for the entire length of the byway.

Bicycle traffic is prohibited along Rt 29 through Trenton until north of the I-95 interchange. Bicycle paths are available alongside of this route through most of this area.
