Big Spring Scenic Backway
Kemmerer, WY
Kemmerer was founded in 1897 and to this day coal mining and ranching still bring in the town's major revenue. James Cash Penney opened his first retail store in 1902 called "The Golden Rule." This eventually turned into the national JCPenney retail store.
Kemmerer also boasts two museums. The Triangle Museum highlights the culture and history of the area with particular emphasis on the emigrant trails. The Fossil Country Museum documents 50 million years of local history.
