Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway
Red Fleet State Park, UT
Red Fleet State Park is located in the heart of Dinosaurland, 10 miles north of Vernal, Utah, on Highway 191. The park name was inspired by three large Navajo sandstone outcrops that jut up from the water like a fleet of ships. At an elevation of 5,600 feet, Red Fleet offers camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing and boating. Nearby attractions include Dinosaur National Monument, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Steinaker and Utah Field House of Natural History state parks, and rafting and fishing on the Green River.
A range of flora and fauna flourish in the park. Plants such as juniper, cactus, and sagebrush are common; animals like rabbits, deer, coyote, badgers, and bobcats can be seen. Look to the sky to see a bevy of birds, some of which include Golden Eagles, hawks, bluebirds, vultures, owls, and, on occasion, Osprey.
