San Luis Obispo offers two points of interest for byway travelers. These are the San Luis Obispo Mission and adjoining downtown area, and the Historic Railroad District. One of the activities that is most enjoyed by visitors to the byway is spending a leisurely couple of hours in the downtown and mission plaza enjoying the creekside walk and bustle of town. The downtown's character makes it one of the more entertaining points of interest in the corridor.
