Red River Gorge Scenic Byway
Red River Gorge Geological Area, KY
The Red River Gorge Geological Area encompasses many interesting and historically significant points of interest and is part of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The mighty Red River carved this Gorge, with steep cliffs and rocky crags greeting visitors who venture along the byway. You will first enter the Geological Area when you pass through Nada Tunnel.
Continuing along KY-77 and KY-715, you will have numerous opportunities to stop and enjoy the many natural stone bridges located throughout the area. The Gladie Historic Site interprets the history of logging in the area. The Red River follows the byway for much of the way, giving visitors the chance to enjoy a Wild and Scenic River. Clifty Wilderness Area allows visitors to enjoy the truly wild aspects of Kentucky nature.
