Talimena Scenic Drive
Old Military Road Historical Site and Picnicground, OK
This historical site is part of the Old Military Road, which was built in 1832 between Fort Smith, AR and Fort Towson, OK. Many features of the original Military Road can still be observed from the trail, such as drylaid rock culverts. This old road provided access to settlers in the area and wagon trains heading west.
