Special Considerations

The Loop includes 2 border crossings between the U.S. and Canada. Travelers who wish to continue into Canada now must present a valid passport. Border crossings are open 8 am to Midnight Pacific Time (Porthill on Idaho SH 1 open 7 am - 11 pm). Check with Canada Customs or US Customs

Children traveling with one parent must have written permission and contact phone number from other parent plus a copy of child's birth certificate. Birth certificate and ID are required for all children. Passports are mandatory for all travelers as of January 2007.

The total length, including Canada sections, is 280 miles/450 km.

Restrictions

U.S. citizens traveling to Canada should be aware of new International Travel restrictions. As of February 2007 U.S. citizens must present their U.S. passport in order to re-enter the United States.
