Great Lakes Seaway Trail
Niagara Falls, NY
The town of Niagara was established at the end of the Revolutionary War by those who wanted to escape the new government in America. Because of its alliance with Britain, Niagara became a battlefield during the War of 1812.
Today, there is a Niagara in the United States and in Canada. Its accessibility to Lake Ontario and its attractions and accommodations make it a great stop on the Great Lakes Seaway Trail. There are over 40 historic buildings and places, art galleries and golf courses, and a festival theater that celebrates the works of George Bernard Shaw.
