Ft. Sumner is a must-stop city for any visitor interested in the fascinating history of the American West. Though located a few miles off the route, a visit to Ft. Sumner will be well worth the trip.

Be sure to tour one of the many museums, particularly the Billy the Kid Museum, and visit the authentic grave of the legendary outlaw just south of the Old Fort Sumner Museum.
