Blackwater Draw, NM
Blackwater Draw is considered one of the most significant sites in North American paleontology. More than a dozen universities across the country fund or participate in research for this site, which includes fossils of many types of fauna including Columbian mammoth, sabertooth cats, dire wolf, horses, bison, and camels.
The Blackwater Draw Museum was opened to the public in 1969 to display artifacts discovered at the site.
