Historic Route 66
Flagstaff, AZ
Nestled in the Coconino National Forest at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, Flagstaff, a Route 66 gateway community, has more remaining Route 66 buildings and signage than any other town across the route. As the neon signs light up at night, you’re taken back in time. There are also great opportunities to explore Flagstaff’s rich railroad, lumber, astronomy, and wild-west history, and it’s a hub for visiting the other historic and natural attractions in close proximity.
Flagstaff is not only a place to relive the '50s and '60s, it is an ideal hub to experience the Grand Canyon, three national monuments, Sedona's red rocks, and the diverse history of Northern Arizona. Flagstaff's museums, historic mansion, Arboretum, and the classic hotels from the '30s to the '60s that still line Route 66 are all must-see places to visit.
