Historic Route 66
La Posada Harvey House, AZ
The La Posada Hotel was the showpiece of the Santa Fe Railroad’s Harvey House collection. This most extravagant Harvey House, designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, was built in 1929, but closed in 1957 as rail travel decreased. Forty years later work began to bring the hotel back to its original elegance. Eleven years later this stately landmark, with its front doors facing the tracks, is once again a destination for railroad enthusiast, and a must-see stop along Route 66.
