Florida Keys Scenic Highway
Indian Key State Historic Park, FL
In 1836, Indian Key became the first Miami-Dade County seat as the 10-acre island had a lucrative business salvaging cargo from shipwrecks. The foundations of buildings and cisterns on the island date back to this prosperous time. Visitors come here to swim, sunbathe, fish, and hike.

The island is accessible by small boat or kayak which can be rented from Robbie’s Marina, Mile Marker 77.5, Bayside. Or, launch your own boat from Indian Key Fill at Mile Marker 78.5, Oceanside.
