Rim of the World Scenic Byway

State: California
National Forest: San Bernardino National Forest
Length: 107.0 mi / 172.2 km
Time to Allow: About 4 hours

The Rim of the World Scenic Byway travels through some of the most naturally beautiful areas left in Southern California. Spectacular vistas and panorama exist everywhere along the route.

In winter, snow covered forests and mountain ridges can be experienced by the motorists in the otherwise snowless environment below. The cool climate and lush green forests of the higher elevations bring welcome relief from hot summer temperatures in the valleys. In the fall, native vegetation offers grand displays of autumn color which cannnot be experienced from lower elevations.

"An island of mountains" in an arid landscape, the forest continues to provide pleasurable and needed escape from urbanization.
