Standing Rock Buffalo Pasture (ND)
This thousand-acre preservation site houses herds of buffalo, an animal that historically provided the Lakota with food, clothing, and shelter.
Location: 6 miles north of Fort Yates, adjacent to the Standing Rock Native American Scenic Byway on Highway 24.

This monument in Fort Yates is the source for the legend which gave the reservation its name. The legend speaks of a wife who refused to leave her home.
Location: The monument overlooks Lake Oahe in Fort Yates, North Dakota, adjacent to the Standing Rock Tribal Administration Building.

The Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center is devoted to preserving and promoting Sioux culture, past and present. The museum is located at the St. Joseph's Indian School for Native American Youth.

The Crow Creek Reservation is the home of the Mdewakanton (People of Spirit Lake) and Ihanktonwan (People of the End) bands of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe in central South Dakota.
