Indian Memorial Area, SD

The Indian Memorial is an island where the Grand River flows into the Missouri, with an available marina, camping area, and rental cabins. The Jedediah Smith Historical Monument, also on the island, features three brass plaques at its base that describe the life and accomplishments of this famous trapper, trader, and explorer. Jedediah Smith explored and developed many of the routes which brought tens of thousands of settlers to the West.
