Big Bend Scenic Byway
Apalachicola National Forest, FL

The ANF covers 567,742 acres between Tallahassee and the Apalachicola River and contains the best remaining example of native Longleaf Pine/Wiregrass ecosystem in the United States. The Longleaf Pine forest, which once covered about 60% of our national landscape, has shrunk to less than 2% of its pre-colonial extent. More than 300 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians make the Apalachicola National Forest their home.
