Coulee Corridor Scenic Byway
Banks Lake, WA
Banks Lake, a 28-mile-long reservoir, was filled in the 1950s to provide irrigation water to the Columbia Basin. Created by the US Bureau of Reclamation to store water for irrigation, the reservoir starts east of Grand Coulee and runs to Coulee City. The reservoir is filled with water that is pumped from Lake Roosevelt through huge pipes. Banks Lake is renowned for its great fishing, boating, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Water recreation on Banks Lake is first-class.
