  • Almota

    Almota (WA)

    Almota is located on a pre historic Nez Perce Indian site called Allamotin or Almotine which means moonlight fishing or torch light fishing.

    Location:

    Almota is located on the southern part of Hwy 194 on the Snake River

  • Boyer Park and Lower Granite Dam (WA)

    The best part of going to Boyer Park is the scenic drive down, straight down towards the Snake river, a road sharp in decline with wild twists and turns.

    South of Steptoe Butte State Park on the byway

  • Channeled Scablands of Eastern Washington

    Channeled Scablands of Eastern Washington (WA)

    The Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington were created 13,000 years ago when catastrophic floods occurred in Lake Missoula

    Location:

    The Channeled Scablands are along Hwy 26 in western Whitman County

  • Historic Barron Flour Mill

    Historic Barron Flour Mill (WA)

    The stoic Barron Flour Mill, constructed in 1890 by J.G. Porter before being purchased by Joe Barron in 1907, is a grand old, wooden building worn and weathered over decades of warm summer sun and hard winter rains.

  • Kamiak Butte State Park

    Kamiak Butte State Park (WA)

    Kamiak Butte was once the bottom sand of an ancient sea, uplifted up by volcanic forces to a relatively towering height of 3,600 feet over the surrounding area. The summit of the Butte offers stunning views of the rolling hills of the Palouse landscape.

    Directions:

    Travel north from Pullman on Hwy 27 for 10 miles. Turn west on to Clear Creek Road, then take the next left on to Fugate Road followed by the next left on to Kamiak Butte Park Road.

  • McCroskey House (WA)

    The house was built in 1898 by then State Senator James McKroskey. Its impressive size is matched only by the richness and style of the interior, which includes carved oak mantelpieces and a hand-carved marble fireplace.

  • Roy M. Chatters Newspaper and Print Museum (WA)

    The museum has a unique collection of retired printing machines and one of the largest displays of old newspapers from the Eastern Washington area. See a printing press, typesetting machines, and other vintage newspaper equipment.

  • Snake River Trail

    Snake River Trail (WA)

    The Snake River Trail stretches 4.5 miles from the bank of historic Almota Creek, which was a Lewis and Clark Expedition stop.

    St. Boniface Church, located on St. Boniface Street, in Uniontown is the first consecrated Catholic Church in the state of Washington.

  • Steptoe Battlefield State Park

    Steptoe Battlefield State Park (WA)

    A stately granite monument stands tall over the town of Rosalia, commemorating one of the last battles fought between the US Calvary and local Tribes.

    Directions:

    Traveling north on Highway 195 take the first exit into Rosalia. Follow Old Highway 195 into town and take a right on 7th Street then another right on to Summit.
