Nemours Mansion and Gardens, DE

The Nemours Mansion, a modified Louis XVI French chateau built in 1910, is Alfred I. du Pont's estate. The mansion has over 100 rooms decorated with European and American furniture, rugs, tapestries, and art. The garden, sitting on 300 acres, is one of the finest examples of French-style gardens in America. It is landscaped with magnificent fountains, glittering pools, and a statuary surrounded by woodlands.
