Habitat-wise, Sommer Park, a Peoria Park District facility, is comprised of ridge top-ravine woodlands, meadows, tallgrass prairie, and ponds. Interesting bird species include Eastern Bluebird, Bobolink, Vesper Sparrow, and Grasshopper Sparrow. During the warmer months check for numerous species of butterflies and dragonflies. Sommer offers educational programs in historical interpretation and outdoor education and a day camp for children.
